Project – Decommissioning of a Siemens Cobalt-60 Teletherapy Unit
KAMALNAIN BAJAJ HOSPITAL
Equipment Type
Siemens Cobalt-60 Teletherapy Unit
Key Challenge:
The safe dismantling of a legacy radiotherapy machine with massive, heavy shielding components and a complex beam-shaping system.
Our Solution:
This project involved the purchase and removal of a legacy Siemens Cobalt-60 unit. Our team expertly deconstructed the machine's unique vertical C-frame, starting with the heavy, shielded treatment head. A key part of the process was the careful dismantling of the complex multi-leaf collimator at the base of the machine—a high-precision component. The project required heavy-duty tools and a methodical approach to safely manage the multi-ton shielded parts.
Value Delivered:
-
Demonstrated deep expertise in handling and decommissioning older, legacy radiotherapy systems.
-
Safely managed the removal of extremely heavy and dense shielding components.
-
Provided a competitive purchase price for the asset, based on the value of its recovered materials.
-
Delivered a complete and efficient site-clearance solution for the hospital.
